A New Beginning

2019. A new year. A new beginning. Anything is possible, right?

You and I know that the turn of a calendar page – whether a new day, a new month, or a new year – doesn’t really have much significance in our everyday lives. Sure, we have to keep track of time for many reasons, but January probably feels just like December, and 2019 probably feels just like 2018.

Same problems.

Same fears.

Same frustrations.

But consider the possibilities – especially from God’s perspective.

In the beginning, God had a plan. His plan encompassed everyone and everything. No one was left out, and nothing was left to chance.

In the beginning, God also saw you, and He saw your needs. He knew you would need a beginning, and He knew that one day you would need a new beginning.

Today can be that day.

Today can be that new beginning.

You don’t need a new calendar or a new year to begin anew in the Lord. With God, all things are still possible (Matthew 19:26), and you can still do all things through Jesus Christ, who gives you strength (Philippians 4:13). Consider these words from the Word of God:

He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me … “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.” (Revelation 21:5-6, NKJV)

If you thirst for the water of life, come drink freely from the fountain prepared for you by the Savior of the world (John 4:14). If you need hope, joy, peace, or purpose, let Him be your Source and your Sustainer (John 10:10, 15:11). If you need a new beginning, any beginning, let Him show you the Way (John 14:6, 2 Corinthians 5:17).
